Sotto Mare

Sotto Mare

📍 San Francisco

👀 Came here as part of the avital North Beach Food Tour. It was busy!! We hid in an underground bunker back room. There is a lot going on at this restaurant, a long bar bustling and the smell of fresh seafood and pasta. First built in 1919 it is one of San Francisco’s oldest restaurants. Sotto Mare means “Under the Sea” and this restaurant makes you feel like you are under the sea, there is a huge marlin out the front and so much sea shanty style memorabilia inside. The menu consists of pasta, cioppino & other Italian-style seafood. The menu was created to be as close to authentic Italian food as possible, and cooked just like they do it in Italy.

💥 Nautical decor galore, reminds me of Bubba Gump! Surfboards on the wall, fishing nets

💁🏼‍♀️ The service here was really amazing, maybe because we were part of the food tour, we were kind of left to ourselves but felt like VIPs.

🍷 Plenty of wine, beer and soft drinks!

🍴 Sotto Mare is world-famous for “The Best Damn Crab Cioppino”. Cioppino is a fish stew originating in San Francisco, California. It is an Italian-American dish and is related to various regional fish soups and stews of Italian cuisine. You can grab a bowl for $49.95 and it serves enough for two people, this was super hyped up dish and when I tried it I was like ok its seafood with pasta haha, ridicuously fresh seafood. It was ridiculously rich and yummy.

✨ Thank you for having us!
