Lush Gelato
Lush Gelato
π San Francisco
π This was our last stop on the North Beach Food tour. Itβs a quaint little shop right near Barbara Pinseria. Lush is the first facility licensed by the State of California to make gelato from scratch in the City and County of San Francisco, and are happily settling into our new home and love making their gelato there.
They took us through the whole process - Jerseys are the smaller brown cows that produce a richer milk, which is higher in fat and protein. This richness is key to help make very smooth ice cream. Most ice cream makers use a milk blend sourced from a dairy plants that use Holstein Cows. Lush uses Jersey Cow milk and they get it straight from Double 8 Dairy Farm in Petaluma.
π₯ A quaint little black and white striped ice creamery, mainly for takeaway, but spaces to sit if you want to eat in.
π΄ They donβt have many flavours with purpose to do the flavours they do offer, immaculately. This is their own take on favorite flavors, creating small batch flavors instead.
Fresh Mint Chip Made with real Spearmint! No artificial flavors or colors added! With semisweet West African Chocolate Chunks. The owner told me when you see choc mint with bright green colour its fake!!
Dulce de Leche Gelato with sweet, slightly salty caramelized milk. Some say better than Salted Caramel. An Argentinian classic. so sweet and beautifully creamy.
Lush make their gelato fresh daily. So it has a very smooth texture. The fresher the ice cream the smaller the ice crystals in it, and the smoother the texture
β¨ Thank you so much for having us, it was an honour!
