Laughing + good food = great life
Miguel Maestre lunch
Good Food & Wine Show, Sydney
Lunch surprise for my mum
Four garden tables hidden amongst the busy good food and wine show, this little sanctuary is very swanky and the perfect escape for lunch. Miguel is so lovely and fun, he made sure everyone had a photo with him and presented the menu before he was rushed off to the main stage for a cooking demo.
To start we had “Jalapeños and tequila pork belly tacos”, which was one taco that looked like one of those soft taco boats you see in the Mexican grocery aisle. There was only one jalapeño in my taco - grateful! The pork in this taco was amazing, so succulent and tasty and the crunch of the crackle and freshness of the coleslaw was the perfect combo.
For main and the most anticipated I was proud and honoured to try “Paella a la Maestre”. Now I’m not a massive fan of rice but this had such a generous amount of seafood. I had high expectations for this dish and I wasn’t blown away but pretty satisfied.
To finish we had “Churros Con Chocolate”, mine was pretty cold. It was 3 churros on a bed of chocolate! I love how the menu was very Spanish themed like Miguel. I was very impressed with the wine pairings, I don’t normally drink red and the McW 480 Hilltops Shiraz was the best red I’ve ever tasted. Miguel is always a delight to be around, you cannot help but laugh and be happy. Thanks for a great lunch!
