Punk rock x Amazing food

Kid Kyoto

Sydney

This place is so cool! Entrance via bridge lane through the Kyoto style shrine. Punk rock and old school 90s rock like bjork, blink 182 etc can clearly be heard around the restaurant.

Service is awesome, we had Sara and she was soooo busy but still so attentive and we were really well looked after by her. The menu doesn’t have a million options but I like this because the smaller menu they absolutely nail so no order decision would disappoint.

We sat at the bar/chefs table, I am short but we still had to lean over to sticky beak on the chefs. We even saw the chefs preparing the lettuce and it looked so good we had to add it onto our order. I know. Lettuce! But they made it look so good!

Perfect for date night on a weekday or catchup with friends on the weekend. We went on a Friday night and it was extremely loud as we were near a big group of girls. So if you want a more intimate experience book on a weekday!

What we ate:

  • ‘Crab stix’ senbei rice cracker, konbu, spanner crab floss & old bay - this is a must order for $8 so much value so much flavour!

  • Preserved lemon chicken tsukune, onsen egg ‘birds nest’ & chilli rayu  - this birds nest concept was awesome with so much yummy spice

  • Kingfish ceviche, pickled watermelon, lemon aspen & roast wakame kosho  - not only was this beautiful but the flavours were amazing too, sweetness of the watermelon, freshness of the kingfish

  • Barramundi, smoked corn dashi, dill, snow pea & bamboo  - delicious

  • Iceberg lettuce, furikake, miso whipped tofu &, cured yolk  - looks so appetising and it did not disappoint

  • Corn, nori & fish 'chahan’ fried rice  - different type of fried rice, perfect side dish

  • Calpis granita, strawberry eucalyptus sorbet, drunk honeydew melon & black sesame  - i loved this!

  • Chocolate fondant, caramelised miso, chocolate crackle, kinako & coconut ice cream  - so many elements and all very delicious

Thank you so much to Shannon for the invite and Sara for looking after us for the night.
