Good Luck

Good Luck restaurant and lounge

📍 Sydney CBD

👀 I booked this as soon as I was told Merivale was opening an old school Chinese restaurant style lounge. Sign me up!! My sisters instructions to me “it’s near mr wongs but on the street” I said the old rockpool building? Turns out yes! Just downstairs lair style. Apparently the old fratelli fresh. Described as “Enter the world of Good Luck Restaurant Lounge – eclectic and playful with a menu that can’t be pinned down to one cuisine.” I would say it has a very tottis vibe but Asian cuisine. 💥 Old school Chinese restaurant style but with fun neon signs. So much nostalgia.

💁🏼‍♀️ Service was pretty as always being Merivale. I liked our server and there’s even a bathroom attendant!!

🍸Cocktails and house made sodas for us for the night.

🍴 Bread - literally described as “bread” $9 on menu. It is not just bread. It’s a perfectly baked and segmented crispy on the outside soft on inside roll, perfectly seasoned with spices and sesame seeds. It reminded me of prawn toast! Oyster, chive oil, fresh ginger $7.50 - delicious! Creamy and not too gingery Raw kingfish, ginger, shiso $22 - great dish, super popular of course. I’d love to try the other raw fish entrees to see how it compares. Five spice beef shin, belt noodle, peanuts $38 - this was the highest recommended dish from my sister that dined there in the same week. It did not disappoint and was my fav of the night. The spices of the beef shin was perfect along with the tenderness of the beef, wrapped around think handmade beef noodles, I love me some wide noodles! Complete with the peanuts for crunch. I cannot fault this dish. Grilled Murray cod with finger lime sambal butter $68 - the cod was light, delicate and flavourful and the sambal butter definitely had a kick to it!! I wanted this to be the best dish but for the price I’d rather order two of the noodles 😂 Milo layer cake with milo ice cream $17 - I had to! I love Milo. And it helps my milk supply 😂 the layer cake had crunch, density and so much flavour, each layer was a surprise welcomed chocolate flavour. And the milo ice cream was just ice cream rolled in Milo but done oh so well.

✨ Another amazing Merivale venue. With an extensive menu that makes you want to try more. And addictive dishes that makes you want to go back!!
