Kensington St, Chippendale

Located at the top of Kensington St in Chippendale is barzaari, a family-run restaurant offering Cypriot plates & Mediterranean fare in a breezy brick-&-glass space.

We dined here on a weekday lunch but it was still fairly busy for a weekday! The kitchen was bustling. The chef at Barzaari is former Quay chef, so we knew we were in for a good dining experience. The design is quite an industrial feel with a lot of concrete and hints of greenery.

πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Service was exceptional to keep up with out table of 8 with the constant flow of cocktails and tapas style dining plates.

Tarama in a pickle with puffed freekah, bottarga how cute are these!! So cool for a burst of flavour in your mouth.

Beef Short Rib $40 -My absolute favourite, death row meal dish. The beef rib is topped with chermoula and has hummus on the side with salted sumac white onions.

The tiropitakia ($14) β€” crisp little cylinders stuffed with lamb + feta and spinach β€” arrive drizzled with honey, the lamb is slow-cooked until tender and wrapped in the thinnest pastry, like a light meat cigar.

Baklava with Quince ice cream $20 was so sweet, syrupy and delicious with the vanilla bean ice cream. It's a huge snail of filo pastry wrapped around a syrupy mix of chopped walnuts and almonds. They can adjust the snail length to suit your party size.

✨ I believe they’ve still got their original restaurant in Marrickville, definitely worth a visit. Chef and staff are very talented and the attention to detail is perfection. The menu is always changing so give it a try!
