Rick Stein At Bannisters

Rick Stein at Bannisters

📍 Port Stephens

👀 I’ve been to Rick Stein at Mollymook but this was my first time to the Port Stephens location. For a special occasion lunch in Port Stephens options are limited but this is the best option.

Plenty of parking out the front Bannisters is much bigger than expected!

The Rick Stein at Bannisters restaurant was brought to Port Stephens to take advantage of the seafood that is sourced from the area daily.

Rick’s chefs keep dishes simple by choosing ingredients that naturally emphasise fresh seafood produce. Executed to perfection each dish delivers bursts of flavour that can be further complemented with the perfect wine pairing from their sommeliers recommendations.

Their slogan is ‘Fresh seafood…simply cooked’

💁🏼‍♀️Newly opened in 2018 the restaurant features vaulted ceilings and a magnificent bar, complete with views of the Bay. The ultimate coastal vibes with rattan light fixtures, seating and partitions. Also big white sphere lanterns along the booth seating featuring blue leather, cocooned tables.

🍷 Plenty of drink options, they have a sommelier taking care of the wine and lots of beer and cocktails.

🍴 We ordered entrees to share and mains for ourselves.

Seared Scallops in the Shell on a bed of Puy Lentils and Chorizo

SASHIMI OF MAHI MAHI, HIRAMASA KINGFISH, BONITO AND PETUNA OCEAN TROUT $ 36 Served with wakame, pickled ginger, wasabi and sashimi dressing. beautifully presented and so so fresh

WARM SHELLFISH WITH PARSLEY, CHILLI, OLIVE OIL, GARLIC AND LEMON JUICE TO SHARE $120 Yabbies, scallops, prawns, clams, mussels and oysters this was so huge and such good value

SINGAPORE CHILLI NELSON BAY BLUE SWIMMER CRAB $ 52 Stir-fried with garlic, ginger, chilli, amd coriander. ''Very much for those who love eating with their hands and getting gloriously messy.'' - this was delicious but super super messy

Bannisters Fish Pie – a beloved classic on our menu. Salmon, snapper, barramundi, scallops, mushrooms and prawns in a creamy fish veloute sauce with black truffle and gratinated with breadcrumbs and parmesan. I had this fish pie before at Mollymook and recommended this to the girls to order.

You cannot go wrong with all these amazing seafood dishes.

✨ I can’t wait to stay at one of the Bannisters properties. Its been on my bucket list for the longest time!
