Sepia
Sydney
Glazed and smoked freshwater eel, watercress, parsley and oyster dashi, tapioca, licorice, nasturtium, Seared swordfish belly, kelp, mayonnaise, shiso vinegar jelly, ginger oil & “Winter chocolate forest” Soft chocolate, hazelnut and almond praline, orange and thyme cream, sour cherry sorbet cocoa brandy jellies, green tea, licorice, chocolate twigs, crystallised fennel fronds
We chose Sepia as it is one of the top hatted restaurants in Sydney, but we were sadly disappointed. It is the epitome of big plates small servings, every dish was beautifully presented but the tastes were nothing special. I tried eel for the first time, which was fun but other than that, it is extremely expensive ($165 for degustation) for not the best dining experience in Sydney. I wouldn’t return anytime soon but i just checked their menu and they have miso cod….tempting!
