Mother’s Day, Nel restaurant
Spoilt mum for mother’s day and took her to Nel <3 My bestie was also there with her mum so it was really nice for them to meet.
We started with Beetroot Nest a stunningly, messy beetroot crispy strands
Coming out on the traditional newspaper was Fish & Chips which was Triple cooked chips. Whiting. Tartare sauce. Dill. YUM!! I was scared to eat all of this because carbs but it was delicious.
Mum tried Bunnings snag for the first time, my second. I love this bite!
I love the presentation with the paperbark, the Native spiced brioche was beautifully soft and golden. I love the way Nel are doing their bread now with the mini loaves, very cute!
Treacle cured salmon Pickled bean sprouts. Shiitake broth.
I was looking forward to this main as i’d had it before in the Australia menu, beautiful!!
Holy shit this main Wildfire bug black and white pappardelle, clam butter, bug tail, tuna soy and apple. Was my absolute favourite, the broth was drink from the bowl worthy! From the Aussie menu also “Bugs + Squid”.
Now I feel like they shoved this item in there for the cute name Mother hen. I am not a massive fan of chicken anyway so I ate the crispy bit around the outside of the chicken and the broth was good. The exotic mushrooms were great but that grey piped blobs whatever that was, smelt so pungent I couldn’t eat it.
This dessert was god level! Crunchie Chocolate and toffee crumb, Kokuto (Japanese Black Sugar) crème, honeycomb toffee, honey tuile, chocolate sorbet. Wow wow wow!! Just look at it. It tastes even better than it looks. I love mousse and this is such a mousse-y dish.
To finish our lovely Mother’s Day menu was Cherry Ripe Fermented cherry, Guanaja 70% chocolate ganache, coconut and marshmallow - yum.
