The Lobster

The Lobster

Santa Monica

The absolute iconic “The Lobster” restaurant was established in 1923 which is almost a century!! The Lobster was named one of Santa Monica's Michelin Guide's Michelin Plate Restaurants. I was lovely excited to have a hosted dinner here.

At the end of Route 66 with amazing views of the Pacific Ocean overlooking the Santa Monica Pier, The Lobster specialises in Maine and California Spiny Lobsters, in addition to entrees composed fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients.

The absolute star of the show is Celebrity Chef Govind Armstrong, he curates the Lobster's menu by season, and frequents the Santa Monica Farmer's Market for inspiration. He is such a warm friendly human and I was so lucky to meet him let alone spend time with him in Sydney at a Santa Monica event, picking his brain!

First Course

Family Style

CRISPY CALAMARI & PRAWNS

Fennel, anchovy-stuffed olives, garlic anchovy aioli, ponzu & sweet chili sauce - these were super crispy with so many choices of sauces

DUNGENESS CRAB CAKE

Remoulade, wild arugula salad & lemon - how generous is the remoulade

TRUFFLE PARMESAN FRIES - these were addictive

Main Course

STEAMED 1½ AMERICAN LOBSTER

Green Beans, Weiser Farms Heirloom Potatoes & Drawn Butter - absolutely spoilt by this dish, there was a choice of main an 99% of us chose the Lobster! I was so excited, look at my face. This lobster was sweet and delicious with the most perfect sides.

Dessert

FARMERS MARKET PEACH CRISP

Semolina Topping, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream & Bourbon Caramel - such a southern dish, was the perfect way to finish.

This was by far one of the best hosted dinners i’ve had, truly grateful for Santa Monica Tourism and Govinda and the team at The Lobster.
