House of Crabs

Redfern

Dinner with the bff

On arrival, the decor is awesome! Located above a pub, but as soon as you get upstairs you are in crab land, complete with boat bar. We picked out this restaurant as i had a good food voucher and this was a participating restaurant. It felt like we were back at Joe’s Crab Shack in America.

The menu had a lot of options, we decided on;

  • ‘SIZZLER’ CHEESE BREAD $6 PARMESAN AND GARLIC BUTTER - this seriously tasted like cheap grilled cheese…

  • SALMON POKE ON PRAWN CRACKERS (3) $16 LIME AND PICKLED RADISH - this sounded good, and the salmon was good quality but it was again cheap

  • BALMAIN BUGS $38 CHIPOTLE BUTTER SAUCE - comes with fries, i asked if we could change to lobster fries instead, i was told no. So i ordered a side of lobster fries anyway, which had tiny bit of lobster in it. The Balmain Bugs were beautiful, but were wrecked by the weird green sauce which tasted like capsicum.

If i was to go back, i would just stick to the seafood only, maybe just a huge crab to myself. But it was pretty overpriced so probably won’t be back.
