Visited for dinner

Such an incredible experience. As soon as you enter the restaurant. You head towards a long pitch black hallway that features a mesmerising video of a diamond shape that keeps evolving and changing colours. We walked up to it and could hear the hustle and bustle of the restaurant, then a black sliding opened automatically. Trippy!

The kitchen is in glass so you can see the chefs working away. There is a display of pineapples roasting, which i assume were part of the Tipsy Cakes, it features outside the kitchen a cognitive wheel mechanism that turns the pineapples. I think they were just for display as i only saw one chef paint them with a sauce once throughout the evening. Was fascinating watching the chefs through the glass, especially up close.

The waiter talked up the snapper explaining the amazing flavours and how it was line caught salmon by a single man etc etc, he also made the tipsy cake sound very exclusive with a min 45min order time and he assumed we had heard of it before, so bae was ready to order it. Waiters are great sales people too!

Drinks were pretty average and expensive. I ordered a lemonade mocktail and it tasted like there was a lemon tree inside my drink.

Of course i had to order the meat fruit, i was worried because i’m not a big chicken or parfait fan, the detail in the entree was incredible it even had the little dimples like a real mandarin. The fruit jelly type coating with the parfait just works!! It’s so much for one person, could have shared it with 2-4 people, it’s like it belongs on a cheese platter.  Bae had the rice and flesh which came with calf tail instead of kangaroo as per menu. “Was tasty but weird” - Bae. The Snapper didn’t disappoint, it was beautiful, the waiter was right! Probably not worth $56 though, wow! Bae ordered the $90 steak - yolo! He said it was great but not worth the money paid. Dessert came and we ditched my Tarte of Strawberries which had strange tastes to it that was not sweet, perhaps the chamomile?, we ditched it for the amazing highlight of the night the Tipsy Cake; waow! The cake was kind of profiteroley/donuty, the sauce was rich and amazingly flavoursome. We were also offered $15 nitogren icecream that was made at the table with a trolley, the table next to us had it, looked cool but i would order 2 x tipsy cakes instead!

What to order;;

  • Meat Fruit (c.1500) - Mandarin, chicken liver parfait & grilled bread $38 - order to share with the table

  • Tipsy Cake (c.1810) - Spit roast pineapple $32
